Femi Branch Reveals What to Expect From The Night of June 7th
Nollywood actor Femi Branch has given audiences an insight into what to expect from The Night of June 7th, an upcoming Nigerian movie set to hit cinemas nationwide on August 28, 2026.
Branch plays the character of Officer James in the film and recently spoke about his role and the production in a promotional video ahead of the cinema release.
The movie is inspired by the real-life Apo Six case of 2005, a tragic incident involving six young Nigerians whose deaths sparked widespread public outrage and concerns over police abuse and accountability.
According to The Guardian, the film follows six friends whose night of celebration takes a devastating turn after they encounter a senior police officer. The story explores injustice, abuse of authority and the search for accountability.
Branch joins a strong cast that includes Gideon Okeke and Ali Nuhu, with the production directed by Toka McBaror. The film is written and produced by Linda Ikeji Media.
With the story based on a painful chapter in Nigeria’s recent history, The Night of June 7th is expected to combine drama and suspense while encouraging audiences to reflect on the events and the lives affected by them.
The promotional campaign for the movie has continued to build anticipation, with members of the cast sharing their experiences and encouraging Nigerians to see the film when it arrives in cinemas.
The Night of June 7th will open in cinemas across Nigeria on August 28, giving moviegoers an opportunity to experience the story on the big screen.
