Authorities in Clarksville detained a prominent social media influencer on Wednesday following a violent confrontation that escalated into gunfire outside a local government building. The incident occurred approximately at 1:15 p.m. in Millennium Plaza directly adjacent to the Montgomery County Courthouse. Law enforcement identified the individual as 28-year-old Dalton Eatherly, who is known to online audiences by the pseudonym Chud the Builder.
According to witness statements and reports from the District Attorney General’s Office, a physical altercation between Eatherly and an unidentified man quickly turned deadly when a weapon was discharged. Both men sustained gunshot wounds during the exchange and were immediately transported to local hospitals for medical treatment.
Eatherly was taken by ambulance to Vanderbilt Clarksville Hospital for a wound to his arm that investigators believe may have been self-inflicted during the struggle. The second man involved in the shooting was airlifted by LifeFlight to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville where he remains in stable condition.
District Attorney Robert J. Nash confirmed that the scene is secured and that no immediate threat remains to the public following the lockdown of the courts center. Eatherly had reportedly been scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday morning regarding a civil case involving a $3,300 debt. Deputies from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office were praised for their rapid response which prevented further injuries at the crowded plaza.
This violent episode follows a series of recent legal troubles and controversial public behavior by the influencer. Eatherly has built a significant following by livestreaming provocative encounters in which he frequently uses racial slurs to incite reactions from bypassers. Just days before the Clarksville shooting, Eatherly was arrested in Nashville on charges of theft of services, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest.
That arrest occurred after he reportedly refused to pay a $371 restaurant bill while making disruptive racial statements to staff and guests. Law enforcement agencies are currently reviewing video evidence from the courthouse scene to determine the exact sequence of events and finalize formal criminal charges.
