Actress, writer, and creator of the Emmy Award-winning series Abbott Elementary, Quinta Brunson, has returned the focus to her hometown of Philadelphia by establishing a major fund dedicated to providing free, enriching field trips for public school students. The initiative, officially launched on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, is called the Quinta Brunson Field Trip Fund and is designed to eliminate the significant financial and logistical barriers that often prevent out-of-classroom educational experiences for students in the School District of Philadelphia.
The fund, created in partnership with The Fund for the School District of Philadelphia, aims to cover all associated costs for the excursions, including transportation, admission fees to museums, historical sites, and other cultural institutions. Ms. Brunson personally kicked off the effort with a substantial donation of $20,000, with the goal of expanding access to over 117,000 students across the district. The initiative’s launch emphasized that field trips are a critical component of a comprehensive education, providing students with memorable learning opportunities and exposing them to careers and places they might not otherwise encounter.
