Poland Scrambles Fighter Jets Amid Russian Strikes on Ukraine

Poland’s armed forces scrambled fighter jets and placed its air defenses on full alert after Russia launched a large-scale missile and drone attack on western Ukraine. Military officials said the decision was taken as a precautionary measure to secure Polish airspace and ensure no spillover from the bombardment reached the country.

According to the Polish military, radar systems were placed on high readiness, ground-based defense units were mobilized, and allied aircraft also joined in the alert. The defensive move was not triggered by an airspace violation but by the heightened risk of stray missiles or drones crossing into Polish territory during the strikes.

Authorities stressed that the country’s armed forces remain in constant readiness to respond to new threats. The incident underscores the growing risks for NATO members bordering Ukraine as Russia intensifies its aerial campaign.
