This pickup marks a major return to the network for Boreanaz following his long-running success on various procedural franchises.
The second drama order is Line of Fire, which brings Peter Krause back to NBC for his first lead role since exiting 9-1-1 last year. Created by Josh Safran, the series is a sophisticated law enforcement procedural centered on a family of agents working across different agencies. The cast includes Hope Davis, Kat Cunning, and Charlie Barnett.
The narrative focuses on a multi-generational family that must navigate a deadly conspiracy that threatens their professional codes and personal safety. Jenna Bush Hager serves as an executive producer on the project through her production banner. On the comedy side, NBC has ordered Sunset P.I., a single-camera workplace series from the creative team behind Brooklyn Nine-Nine. The show stars Jake Johnson and Jane Levy as members of a quirky group of private investigators based in Los Angeles. Writers Dan Goor and Luke Del Tredici serve as the primary creators.
The show is described as a humorous tribute to the long tradition of California detective stories. The network also handed a series order to Newlyweds, a multi-camera comedy starring real-life couple Téa Leoni and Tim Daly. The series follows a free-spirited woman and a buttoned-up professor who enter a whirlwind marriage later in life. Academy Award winner Jamie Lee Curtis is set to appear in a recurring guest role.
