Hollywood Icon Rob Reiner and Wife Michele Found Dead in Apparent Homicide
Legendary Hollywood director, actor, and activist Rob Reiner, 78, and his wife, photographer Michele Singer Reiner, 68, were found dead in their Brentwood-area home on Sunday afternoon in a tragic incident that the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) is investigating as an apparent homicide. Authorities were called to the Reiners’ residence on a medical aid request shortly after 3:30 p.m. local time, where first responders discovered the bodies of the couple.
The deaths were immediately confirmed by a spokesperson for the Reiner family, who released a statement expressing profound grief: “It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner. We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time.”
The LAPD Robbery Homicide Division quickly took over the investigation. Rob Reiner first rose to fame as Michael “Meathead” Stivic on the groundbreaking 1970s sitcom All in the Family, earning two Emmy Awards for the role. He went on to become one of Hollywood’s most successful and versatile directors, helming a string of critically acclaimed and commercially successful films including This Is Spinal Tap (1984), Stand by Me (1986), The Princess Bride (1987), When Harry Met Sally… (1989), and A Few Good Men (1992). The Reiners, who married in 1989, were also well-known for their political and social activism, notably advocating for early childhood education initiatives and LGBTQ+ rights.
