Harrogate Overtakes Hereford as UK’s Biggest Dildo Buyers
Harrogate, the affluent spa town in North Yorkshire, has reportedly taken the unusual title of the British town where residents purchase the largest average dildos.
According to Lovehoney’s 2026 Sex Map, shoppers in Harrogate purchased adult toys with an average size of 7.35 inches, putting the posh Yorkshire town ahead of previous leader Hereford.
Hereford previously held the title after Lovehoney’s 2025 data found that residents there purchased dildos averaging 7.13 inches. Jersey followed closely at 7.12 inches, while Inverness, Twickenham and Hemel Hempstead also appeared among the locations buying the largest products.
The figures come from Lovehoney’s annual Sex Map, which analyses its sales data to compare purchasing trends across different UK towns, cities and regions. The company also ranks locations according to categories including sex toys, bondage products, costumes and other adult products.
Harrogate’s new position means Hereford has lost the unusual distinction it gained in 2025. The Yorkshire town is now attracting attention for more than its famous spa heritage, historic architecture and affluent reputation.
The figures should be viewed as sales data rather than a scientific survey of residents’ sexual behaviour. They indicate the average size of products purchased through Lovehoney in the relevant locations and do not necessarily mean every resident is buying products of that size.
