Carrot Top Cancels Las Vegas Shows After Hospitalization
Comedian Carrot Top, whose real name is Scott Thompson, canceled his weekend performances at the Luxor Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas following a sudden hospitalization on Friday. Venue officials confirmed that the 61-year-old prop comic’s scheduled shows were called off as he remained under medical care at a local hospital. In a public statement released Friday evening, representative Jami Schlicher confirmed that Thompson is receiving medical support and requested privacy on behalf of his family during his recovery.
The sudden disruption to his headlining residency comes amid reports from TMZ that first responders were dispatched to the comedian’s Las Vegas area home on Friday afternoon. Local police vehicles were spotted outside the property shortly before his show was officially removed from the evening schedule. According to an official news report published by Rolling Stone, Thompson remains hospitalized under observation while medical personnel evaluate his condition.
The news of Thompson’s hospitalization follows recent legal friction involving public allegations and civil disputes surrounding the entertainer. Legal representatives for Thompson recently stated that the comedian was the target of an extortion and blackmail scheme involving high-dollar monetary demands. Despite the active controversy and immediate show cancellations, venue organizers have not announced long-term operational changes to his ongoing residency.
Thompson has headlined at the Luxor since November 2005, marking the longest-running solo comedy residency in Las Vegas history. Known for his signature red hair and high-energy prop routines, the Florida-born performer built a decades-long career across television, film, and national stand-up tours before establishing his permanent home on the Las Vegas Strip. Representatives for the venue indicated that updates regarding ticket refunds and future performance schedules will be shared as more information becomes available.
