The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has formally petitioned the Attorney-General of the Federation and the Inspector-General of Police, seeking the immediate arrest and prosecution of renowned Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate. This action follows a reported incident aboard ValueJet flight VK201 on August 5, 2025, which involved K1 allegedly disrupting flight procedures and violating aviation safety regulations.
According to the NCAA, the musician’s behavior posed a threat to public safety and constituted a breach of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations (Nig. CARs) 2023. The agency emphasized that regardless of social status or public influence, all passengers must comply with aviation rules. NCAA spokesperson Michael Achimugu confirmed that the Authority has written directly to the Attorney-General of the Federation and the Inspector-General of Police, urging a thorough criminal investigation and appropriate legal action against K1 De Ultimate.
Further to the petition, the Director General of Civil Aviation, Captain Chris Najomo, has advised the Airline Operators of Nigeria to place the musician on a no-fly list pending the conclusion of investigations. This preventive measure aligns with international best practices and demonstrates the Authority’s commitment to maintaining law and order within the aviation sector.
The NCAA reiterated that it remains steadfast in enforcing safety standards across Nigeria’s airspace. The agency stressed that its actions were not targeted at any individual but rather aimed at preserving the integrity of the country’s aviation system. It called on all passengers, regardless of their status or profession, to act responsibly and respectfully while onboard aircraft, warning that future violations would be met with the full weight of the law.
