Whitney Leavitt Set for Broadway Debut as Roxie Hart in Iconic Musical ‘Chicago’
Social media personality and reality television star Whitney Leavitt is set to make her Broadway debut, landing the iconic lead role of Roxie Hart in the long-running musical revival of Chicago. The star, who recently gained widespread recognition as a semi-finalist on Season 34 of Dancing with the Stars and as a cast member on the Hulu series The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, will begin her limited engagement run at the Ambassador Theatre on Monday, February 2, 2026. This will mark the first professional theater role for Leavitt, who previously studied dance at Brigham Young University.
Leavitt will portray the notorious murderess and ambitious housewife for a six-week engagement, with her final performance scheduled for Sunday, March 15, 2026. Her casting comes after significant fan speculation, which intensified following her acclaimed Argentine Tango performance to the musical’s signature number “Cell Block Tango” during her tenure on Dancing with the Stars. The creators of Chicago had even hinted at the possibility of her joining the production on social media after the routine, creating a buzz that has now culminated in a Broadway run.
Chicago, which is renowned for its satirical portrayal of celebrity culture and criminal justice, is the longest-running American musical in Broadway history. Leavitt steps into a role previously held by numerous celebrities who have utilized the limited engagement run to make their own Broadway debuts or returns, including Pamela Anderson, Brooke Shields, and Ariana Madix. Leavitt, a millennial mother of three who has amassed a large online following with her mix of dance, comedy, and lifestyle content, will now take center stage in the Tony Award-winning revival, demonstrating the growing pipeline between popular reality television and the world of Broadway stunt casting.
