Shohei Ohtani finally snapped his longest power drought of the season on Tuesday night, but his individual milestone could not prevent the Los Angeles Dodgers from falling 6-2 to the San Francisco Giants. Playing before a sellout crowd at Dodger Stadium, the two-way superstar launched a solo blast in the third inning to give Los Angeles a brief 2-1 lead.
The home run was Ohtani’s seventh of the 2026 MLB season and his first since April 26, ending a frustrating 11-game stretch without a long ball. Despite the spark from their designated hitter, the Dodgers’ offense otherwise remained dormant, continuing a worrying trend that has seen the club lose four consecutive games and nine of their last thirteen contests.
The San Francisco Giants secured their third straight victory thanks to a sudden power surge from the bottom of their batting order. Eric Haase delivered a career night with two solo home runs, including a game-tying shot in the third and a go-ahead blast in the fifth. Immediately following Haase’s second homer, Harrison Bader hammered a two-strike pitch into the seats to extend the lead.
These back-to-back homers marked the first time this season that Dodgers starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto surrendered three home runs in a single outing. Yamamoto struggled with his location throughout the night, eventually allowing five runs and six hits over 6 1/3 innings of work as his season record fell to 3-3.
On the other side of the mound, Giants veteran Adrian Houser earned his first win of the campaign by navigating through a potent but struggling Los Angeles lineup. Houser allowed only two runs and three hits over 5 2/3 innings while striking out four and walking three. The Dodgers had a golden opportunity to climb back into the game in the eighth inning when they loaded the bases, but outfielder Andy Pages flied out to end the threat.
Caleb Kilian then provided 1 1/3 innings of perfect relief to secure his second save of the year. The defeat leaves the Dodgers searching for answers as they continue to score three runs or fewer in the majority of their recent games, while the surging Giants have now won four of their last five matchups.
