NYC Voters at No Kings Rally Say Zohran Mamdani Represents Everything Donald Trump Is Not
At a major “No Kings” rally in Times Square, New York City voters voiced strong support for mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani, saying he stands in stark contrast to President Donald Trump’s leadership style and agenda. Protesters described Mamdani as the kind of figure who reflects their values of diversity, accountability, and community-first politics, while viewing Trump as emblematic of centralized power and divisiveness.
One Queens resident interviewed at the event said, “He represents everything they’re not,” referencing the campaign message that Mamdani promotes—grass-roots, inclusive, and anti-elitist—versus what critics label as Trump’s top-down and populist governance. Another attendee noted they were voting for Mamdani because they believe he will fight for everyday New Yorkers rather than entrenched interests, and because they want a local leader who openly rebukes the kind of federal assertions of dominance seen under Trump.
