Nigerian Nightclub Owner “Pretty Mike” Gets ₦50 Million Bail After Drug-Offence Arraignment
Lagos socialite and nightclub owner Mike Nwalie, popularly known as Pretty Mike, has been granted bail in the sum of ₦50 million following his arraignment before the Federal High Court in Lagos on charges connected to alleged drug-related offences. The court also ordered that two sureties provide the same amount as part of the bail conditions, with each surety required to submit an affidavit of means.
Pretty Mike, who owns Proxy Lagos Nightclub on Akin Adesola Street, Victoria Island, appeared in court alongside the club’s supervisor, Joachim Hillary, aged 32. Both men face a three-count charge brought by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for conspiracy, unlawful possession of controlled substances, and permitting the club premises to be used for illegal drug activities.
According to the prosecution, NDLEA operatives recovered 200 grams of Cannabis Sativa and 177 cylinders of nitrous oxide, weighing a total of 364.662 kilograms, from the nightclub premises on October 26, 2025. These offences contravene sections 12, 14(b), and 20 of the NDLEA Act, Cap N30. Both defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Justice Ambrose Lewis-Allagoa, presiding over the case, stated that the accused had no prior criminal records and should be presumed innocent until proven guilty. The trial has been scheduled to begin on January 14, 2026.
