Man on Trial in Albania Kills Judge, Injures Two Others in Court Shooting
A man on trial in Albania opened fire inside a courtroom, killing a judge and injuring two others in a shocking act of violence that has sparked national outrage. The incident occurred during a hearing in the northern city of Lezha, where the accused reportedly pulled out a firearm and began shooting before security officers could intervene.
Authorities confirmed that the judge died at the scene, while two other victims, including a court employee and a security officer, were rushed to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. The suspect was immediately subdued and taken into custody.
Prime Minister Edi Rama condemned the attack, calling it a “heinous act” that threatens the integrity of Albania’s justice system. Security measures have since been tightened in courts across the country as investigators work to determine how the gunman managed to bring a weapon into the courtroom.
