Lagos, Abuja Wear New Look Ahead of ‘The Night of June 7th’ Movie Release
Lagos and Abuja have taken on a new look as excitement builds ahead of the nationwide cinema release of The Night of June 7th, a new Nollywood movie inspired by the tragic story of the Apo Six.
Billboards and promotional materials for the highly anticipated movie have appeared across major locations in Lagos and Abuja, creating a strong visual presence ahead of its release. The development has generated attention among movie lovers as the countdown to the cinema debut continues.
The Night of June 7th is inspired by the 2005 killing of six young Nigerians in Abuja, an incident that became widely known as the Apo Six case. The movie explores themes of power, injustice, loss and the events surrounding the tragic night.
The film is directed by Toka Mcbaror and features actors including Ali Nuhu, April Chidinma, Charles Lenny, Femi Branch and Gideon Okeke. It has been listed as a drama and Nollywood production with a runtime of about one hour and 45 minutes.
The movie is scheduled to hit cinemas nationwide on August 28, 2026. Cinema listings already include venues such as Ikeja City Mall and Silverbird Galleria in Lagos, as well as Silverbird Cinemas at SEC and Jabi Lake Mall in Abuja.
With major billboards now dominating parts of Lagos and Abuja, the promotional campaign is helping to build anticipation for what is expected to be one of Nollywood’s major cinema releases this August. Recent entertainment coverage has also listed The Night of June 7th among the Nollywood films attracting attention this month.
