The Federal Government has intensified efforts to strengthen economic ties with Brazil, particularly to benefit Nigeria’s South-South region. Nigeria’s economic team, led by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, took part in a high-level business roundtable hosted by Citi at its São Paulo headquarters in Brazil.
The engagement focused on expanding bilateral cooperation in areas such as agriculture, energy, technology, and infrastructure. Brazil, recognized for its advancements in mechanized farming and renewable energy, is seen as a strategic partner in boosting Nigeria’s food security, industrialization, and sustainable growth.
Wale Edun emphasized that the partnership reflects President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to attracting investment and strengthening Nigeria’s global economic footprint. Stakeholders believe the deal will open new trade and investment opportunities, enhance job creation, and promote technology transfer, particularly in the South-South region.
