The 44-year-old, who has been a top fixture on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list, was apprehended during a coordinated raid involving the FBI, the DEA, the Mexican Federal Police, and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). Prosecutors allege that his “athletic drive” fueled a ruthless criminal enterprise that mastered the use of semitrucks for large-scale distribution while employing extreme violence to silence competitors and protect its interests.
The most severe charges against Wedding involve a series of brutal murders orchestrated to further his drug empire. He is accused of ordering the November 2023 retaliatory killings of an Ontario couple, Jagtar and Harbhajan Sidhu, who were reportedly murdered in a case of mistaken identity following a stolen drug shipment. Furthermore, a superseding indictment unsealed in late 2025 charged Wedding with orchestrating the execution of a federal witness in Medellín, Colombia, in January 2025. Investigators claim Wedding utilized a Canadian website to post the witness’s photograph to ensure he was identified and killed before he could testify. Among the numerous associates already in custody is Wedding’s own attorney, who allegedly advised him to have the witness murdered to avoid extradition.
The arrest is being hailed as a monumental success for “Operation Giant Slalom,” the multi-agency investigation dedicated to dismantling Wedding’s network. During the raids in Mexico, authorities seized dozens of high-end motorcycles valued at $40 million, along with artwork and what were described as two Olympic medals.
