Court Dismisses Drakes Federal Defamation Lawsuit Against Universal Music Group
A federal court has officially dismissed rapper Drake’s defamation lawsuit against Universal Music Group (UMG), according to reports from TMZ. The case, which stemmed from Drake’s claims that the label made damaging statements affecting his reputation and business interests, has now been thrown out in its entirety.
The judge reportedly ruled that the suit lacked sufficient evidence to prove intentional harm or falsehood, effectively ending the legal battle between the Grammy-winning artist and one of the music industry’s biggest powerhouses.
Drake, whose real name is Aubrey Graham, had filed the lawsuit earlier this year, alleging that UMG executives spread defamatory claims tied to his music catalog rights and label dealings.
