During Arsenal’s 3-0 victory against Slavia Prague, Dowman was introduced in the 72nd minute, at the age of 15 years and 308 days, breaking the previous record held by Youssoufa Moukoko. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta praised Dowman’s composure and personality, noting that from the moment he touched the ball he showed confidence in taking on opponents and earning fouls.
This milestone comes after Dowman had already set other club records by becoming Arsenal’s youngest ever starter at 15 years and 302 days in a League Cup tie. He has been involved with the first team this season, following his Premier League debut at age 15 earlier in the campaign. With no minimum age in UEFA’s competition regulations, the appearance qualifies Dowman to claim the record as the youngest player in Champions League history.
