Former Nickelodeon star Christy Knowings, best known for her role on the popular sketch comedy series All That, has died at the age of 46 after suffering a severe asthma attack.
Knowings was hospitalized on August 7 after the medical emergency reportedly left her with brain damage. She was later placed on life support at a Los Angeles-area hospital as her family waited for her condition to improve.
According to reports, Knowings remained on life support for several days before her family made the difficult decision to withdraw the treatment on August 11. She died later that day. Her aunt, Tyleah Joseph, announced the death and paid tribute to the actress and comedian.
Knowings joined Nickelodeon’s All That in 1997 and appeared on the show for three seasons. She became known for playing several memorable characters, including Jessica in the popular “Whateverrr!!!” sketches alongside Amanda Bynes. She also portrayed news anchor Brenda Stone in the show’s comedy sketches.
Beyond All That, Knowings appeared in other television productions, including Sesame Street, where she performed alongside her twin brother, Chris Knowings. She also appeared in the Nickelodeon production And Now This! and continued exploring music and other creative projects after her television career.
News of her death has prompted emotional tributes from former castmates. Kenan Thompson, who worked with Knowings on All That, shared a tribute expressing his shock and sadness. He remembered her as a genuine and extremely funny person and sent his condolences to her family.
