Bulgaria Wins 2026 Eurovision Contest With Dara

Bulgaria wins Eurovision 2026 Bangaranga

Bulgarian pop singer Dara made musical history on Saturday, May 16, 2026, by securing her country’s first-ever victory at the Eurovision Song Contest. The 27-year-old artist swept to an emphatic win during the grand final of the 70th anniversary edition held in Vienna, Austria.

Performing the high-energy track “Bangaranga,” Dara captivated both music professionals and millions of global viewers. The victory marks a monumental achievement for Bulgarian broadcaster BNT. The nation first entered the competition in 2005 and returned to the grand stage this year following a three-year hiatus.

The historic win means Bulgaria will earn the honor of hosting the massive international music event in 2027.
According to final voting statistics published by Eurovisionworld, Bulgaria finished at the top of the leaderboard with a massive total of 516 points.

Dara dominated the competition by winning both the national jury votes and the global public televote. This rare double triumph represents the first time a single act has topped both voting categories since 2017. “Bangaranga” achieved an astonishing 173-point winning margin over its closest competitor, setting a new record for the largest margin of victory in the modern history of the contest.

Israel finished in second place with 343 points for Noam Bettan’s pop ballad “Michelle,” while Romania took third place with 296 points. Meanwhile, the United Kingdom’s entrant finished in last place with just a single point.

The upbeat winning track was co-written by Dara alongside prominent international songwriters including Anne Judith Wik, Cristian Tarcea, and Dimitris Kontopoulos. The European Broadcasting Union confirmed that the spectacular anniversary show drew massive streaming numbers worldwide despite facing political challenges behind the scenes.

The historic 70th edition was overshadowed by controversy regarding the participation of Israel amid the ongoing Gaza conflict. Five competing nations, including Ireland, Spain, the Netherlands, Slovenia, and Iceland, boycotted the 2026 event in protest of the EBU’s refusal to exclude the Israeli delegation.

Outside the venue, local authorities monitored peaceful demonstrations as fans gathered to celebrate the final scoreboard reveal.
Dara’s historic victory has triggered widespread celebration across the Balkan region and cemented her status as a leading icon of modern European pop music. The singer previously built a strong career as a popular mentor on the television talent show The Voice of Bulgaria.

Industry analysts predict that her landmark win will provide an immediate boost to the local music industry as preparations begin for next year’s tournament. The iconic crystal microphone trophy was presented to the emotional singer as the packed arena erupted in cheers. With the 2026 season officially concluded, global audiences are already looking forward to the next chapter of the competition in Sofia.
