The Federal Government has clarified that it has not commenced the sale of the 753 houses forfeited by former Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele. The Ministry of Housing and Urban Development warned Nigerians to beware of fraudsters spreading false claims about the sale or distribution of the properties through unofficial channels.
According to the Ministry, the forfeited houses, located in the Federal Capital Territory, are still undergoing technical assessment and structural integrity checks to determine their state of completion. Officials explained that these steps must be concluded before any disposal or allocation process can begin.
The government emphasized that no approval has been granted for the sale and that a transparent process would be announced publicly once decisions are finalized. Citizens were urged to disregard misleading information and wait for official communication from the Ministry.
