Portland Police Seek Public Help After Assault Suspect Flees Near ICE Facility
The Portland Police Bureau is asking the public for assistance in identifying a suspect involved in an assault case near the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in South Portland. The incident happened around 8:41 p.m. on September 30, when a Dialogue Liaison Officer, who serves as a crisis and community liaison rather than an enforcement officer, was alerted about the assault at South Moody Avenue and South Bancroft Street.
The officer followed the suspect north on South Moody Avenue while calling for backup. Attempts to engage the suspect were unsuccessful, and she fled the scene. Patrol officers later met with the victim and took over the investigation. The case has since been assigned to the Major Crimes Unit.
Police have released a description of the suspect: a Caucasian female in her late teens or early 20s, with long blonde hair with bangs and a large chrome septum nose ring. She was last seen wearing a black hoodie with a white emblem on the chest, a black mask, loose tan cargo-style pants, black shoes with white soles, and carrying a gray Jansport backpack with black zippers and straps.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the suspect’s identity to come forward as the investigation continues.
