Reform UK Receives Record £9 Million Donation from Crypto and Aviation Investor Christopher Harborne

The political landscape in the UK has been profoundly altered by the revelation that Reform UK, led by Nigel Farage, received a record single donation of £9 million from British-Thai businessman and prominent crypto investor Christopher Harborne. Figures released by the Electoral Commission on Thursday confirmed the donation, which was made on August 1, 2025, represents the largest single gift ever made by a living person to a UK political party.

The substantial donation dramatically inflated Reform UK’s total intake for the third quarter of 2025, bringing their overall declared funding for the period to approximately £10.5 million. This total significantly eclipsed the fundraising totals of both the Labour Party and the Conservative Party during the same period, providing a major financial boost to Reform UK as it gains ground in national opinion polls.

Mr. Harborne, who describes himself as an “investor in new tech, including open software blockchain platforms,” is an aviation entrepreneur based in Thailand who previously served as a donor to the Conservative Party before becoming a major backer of the Brexit Party in 2019, which subsequently rebranded as Reform UK. The sheer size of the donation highlights the significant financial support the party is attracting from wealthy individuals who favor its populist, low-tax, anti-establishment platform. The focus on the donor’s crypto investments also comes amid ongoing political debate within the UK government regarding the necessity of banning political donations made via cryptocurrency due to concerns over source transparency and anonymity.
