Presley Gerber Cremated in Malibu Following Autopsy After Death at 27
Model Presley Gerber, the son of supermodel Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber, has been cremated following an autopsy after his sudden death on September 20 at age 27. A death certificate obtained by news outlets confirmed that Gerber was cremated at the Rose Family Funeral Home in California after the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner completed an initial examination and released his remains to his family. The document states that his ashes will be kept at his parents’ primary residence in Malibu, as the family prepares for a private, intimate memorial service in Southern California.
Gerber died at a luxury rehabilitation facility in Santa Monica, where first responders arrived following reports of a suspected overdose. The Santa Monica Police Department confirmed that law enforcement is pursuing the incident as an overdose investigation, noting there were no immediate signs of foul play. While an autopsy was completed the day following his death, officials deferred determining a formal cause and manner of death pending comprehensive toxicology and laboratory results, which expectedly take several weeks to finalize.
In the wake of the tragedy, the Gerber family released a brief statement requesting privacy while they grieve. Gerber, who signed with IMG Models as a teenager and walked for major luxury brands alongside his younger sister Kaia Gerber, had been notably vocal in recent years about his personal struggles with depression, anxiety, and substance use disorders. Through social media series like “Mental Health Mondays,” he frequently shared details of his treatment journey and urged others to speak openly about mental health without facing social stigma.
