Israel Launches Airstrikes on Gaza After Accusing Hamas of Violating Ceasefire Agreement

Israel has carried out a series of airstrikes on Gaza following accusations that Hamas violated the recently agreed ceasefire by launching rockets toward southern Israeli territory. The renewed violence has shattered a fragile truce that had brought a brief period of calm after weeks of intense fighting.

According to Israel’s military, the strikes targeted what it described as “Hamas weapons depots and command sites” in central and northern Gaza. Explosions were reported across several districts overnight, sending residents scrambling for shelter. Palestinian health officials confirmed multiple casualties, though the exact number remains unclear due to ongoing rescue operations.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that the operation was a “measured response” to continued rocket fire, warning that further violations of the ceasefire would “be met with decisive action.” Hamas, in turn, accused Israel of breaching the agreement first, claiming the airstrikes hit civilian neighborhoods and medical facilities.

International mediators, including Egypt and Qatar, have called for both sides to exercise restraint and return to diplomatic channels to prevent a wider escalation. The United Nations expressed deep concern over the breakdown of the ceasefire, urging renewed efforts to protect civilians and restore stability in the region.
