European leaders have expressed outrage after Russian missile strikes on Ukraine killed 21 people and caused significant damage to the European Union’s headquarters in Kyiv. The attack, one of the deadliest in recent months, has drawn swift condemnation from across the continent, with leaders calling it a direct assault on European sovereignty and international law.
Ukrainian officials confirmed that rescue operations are ongoing as emergency teams work through the debris in the city center. The EU building, which had been serving as a central hub for diplomatic coordination, sustained heavy structural damage, further heightening tensions.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen denounced the strike as “a barbaric act that will not go unanswered,” while leaders from France, Germany, and Italy vowed to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities. NATO also signaled readiness to provide further support, warning Moscow that escalation against European institutions crosses a dangerous line.
