Aaron Rodgers Re-Signs With Steelers
Aaron Rodgers Steelers contract 2026
The Pittsburgh Steelers officially secured quarterback Aaron Rodgers for the 2026 NFL season. The veteran quarterback agreed to a new one-year contract extension worth up to $25 million. This crucial agreement ensures his return to the team just days before voluntary organized team activities begin.
The definitive decision concludes months of intense media speculation regarding his potential retirement. The contract features $22 million in fully guaranteed money. This salary represents a significant raise from his previous compensation package. NFL insiders confirmed that the deal was finalized over the weekend. Rodgers is expected to report to the facility immediately to begin workouts.
The upcoming season marks an intriguing reunion for the veteran quarterback in Pennsylvania. He will once again play under head coach Mike McCarthy. McCarthy replaced longtime coach Mike Tomlin earlier this offseason. Rodgers and McCarthy previously spent thirteen seasons together with the Green Bay Packers.
They achieved a historic championship victory together in Super Bowl XLV. This familiar pairing provides the Pittsburgh Steelers with high stability during the voluntary summer workouts. Team officials had previously utilized an unrestricted free agent tender on Rodgers. That strategic front office move successfully ensured exclusive negotiating rights until a final agreement was reached.
Pittsburgh enters the new campaign looking to build upon their recent division success. The team won the AFC North division title last year with a ten and seven record. However, they suffered a disappointing first-round playoff exit against the Houston Texans. Rodgers threw twenty-four touchdowns against only seven interceptions last season.
The front office reinforced the roster by trading for star wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. They also drafted rookie pass-catcher Germie Bernard to expand their offensive options. With the quarterback position now fully solidified, the franchise focuses on defending its division title against competitive division rivals.
