Trump and Starmer to Meet with Major £150 Billion US Investment Deal in Focus
Donald Trump and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer are set to meet on Thursday to discuss global issues alongside the unveiling of a landmark £150 billion United States investment package for Britain. The deal, announced during Trump’s state visit, is aimed at boosting economic ties and strengthening cooperation across key industries.
The package includes a record commitment of £90 billion from Blackstone over the next decade. Other major pledges include £3.9 billion from Prologis and £1.5 billion from Palantir. Together, these investments are expected to create around 7,600 high-quality jobs across multiple UK regions, including the North East, the Midlands, Glasgow, and Warrington.
In addition to economic announcements, the meeting is expected to touch on pressing foreign policy matters. Keir Starmer plans to raise issues concerning the war in Gaza, the conflict in Ukraine, trade policy, and online safety regulations. Observers note that while the investment package demonstrates strong commercial partnership, diplomatic tensions remain due to ongoing political controversies surrounding both leaders.
Government officials have described the deal as the largest commercial investment package ever unveiled during a UK state visit. It covers not only technology and manufacturing but also clean energy, life sciences, and artificial intelligence research. Starmer emphasized that the agreement shows Britain is ambitious, open to innovation, and committed to ensuring new global partnerships benefit workers and communities across the country.
