Harry Kane Wins 2026 Men’s Ballon d’Or
Bayern Munich forward and England captain Harry Kane claimed the 2026 Men’s Ballon d’Or at a ceremony held at the London Palladium on Monday night, ending a 25-year drought for English football. The 33-year-old striker finished ahead of Spain’s Lamine Yamal and France’s Kylian Mbappé in the voting to claim the award for the first time in his career. Legendary former Brazilian forward Ronaldo, a two-time Ballon d’Or recipient, presented Kane with the trophy on stage.
Kane’s landmark triumph follows an incredible 2025/26 campaign in which he registered 73 goals across all competitions for Bayern Munich and the English national team. His goalscoring performances powered Bayern Munich to the German Bundesliga title and the UEFA Champions League semi-finals, while also earning him the Gerd Müller Trophy as the year’s top striker. Internationally, Kane captained England to a bronze-medal finish at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.
By taking home the top individual honor in world football, Kane becomes only the fifth English player to win the men’s Ballon d’Or. He joins an elite group comprising Sir Stanley Matthews (1956), Sir Bobby Charlton (1966), Kevin Keegan (1978, 1979), and Michael Owen, who was the last Englishman to receive the award in 2001.
