Bayern Munich Forward Jamal Musiala Shares Health Update After Collapsing Again
Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala has reassured fans about his health after collapsing during a football match for the second time in four days.
The 23-year-old Germany international collapsed during Bayern Munich’s pre-season friendly against Heidenheim on Tuesday, August 18, just minutes after coming on as a substitute. The incident came days after he had also collapsed during Bayern’s match against RB Leipzig.
Following the second incident, Musiala revealed that doctors had diagnosed him with brief and temporary “absence seizures” caused by a neurological dysfunction. He said the condition is treatable and that he is receiving medical care from specialists.
Musiala sought to calm concerns about his condition, saying he is doing well and remains optimistic about his recovery. He also stated that doctors have told him there is no further health risk associated with the condition.
The Bayern forward explained that the episodes can cause the type of incidents supporters witnessed during the matches against Leipzig and Heidenheim. He said he is working closely with medical experts and has the support of Bayern Munich and his personal team.
Despite the worrying collapses, Musiala said he wants to continue playing football. He explained that, following medical clearance from neurologists, he has chosen to continue doing what he loves while undergoing treatment and monitoring.
The latest incident occurred during Bayern’s 4–2 victory over Heidenheim. Musiala had only been on the pitch for several minutes when he collapsed, prompting immediate medical attention. He was eventually helped from the pitch.
His latest health update has provided some relief to Bayern supporters, particularly because the two incidents happened within a short period. Musiala has also asked fans to respect his privacy as he deals with the condition alongside his family, club and medical specialists.
Musiala missed much of the previous season after suffering a serious ankle injury but had returned to action and remains an important player for Bayern as they prepare for the new campaign.
