Man City Edge Chelsea 1-0 to Win 2026 FA Cup Final
Man City vs Chelsea FA Cup final 2026
Manchester City secured their second trophy of the season on Saturday, May 16, 2026, with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Chelsea in the FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium. In a tense tactical battle defined by fine margins, forward Antoine Semenyo proved to be the hero by scoring the decisive goal in the 71st minute.
The Ghanaian international capitalized on a precise assist from star striker Erling Haaland to send the traveling City fans into absolute delirium. The narrow triumph adds to Manchester City’s earlier Carabao Cup success this season, ensuring their pursuit of a historic domestic treble remains firmly on track. Manager Pep Guardiola celebrated his 20th major honor with the club just days after passionately reaffirming his long-term commitment to the reigning English champions.
The match remained a tightly contested affair throughout the first half, as both heavyweights traded blows without breaking the deadlock. Chelsea, led by interim manager Callum McFarlane, created several promising opportunities and put severe pressure on the City backline. The London club thought they should have been awarded a crucial penalty following a heavy collision involving defender Jorrel Hato, but the referee waved play away after a brief review.
Despite a bright start to the second half by the Blues, Manchester City’s defense held remarkably firm under the leadership of center-back Marc Guéhi and goalkeeper James Trafford. Chelsea’s frustration grew as they struck the woodwork in the closing stages, failing to beat a resilient City side that has mastered the art of winning high-stakes showpieces.
With the FA Cup safely secured in the trophy cabinet, Manchester City will immediately turn their attention back to a thrilling Premier League title race. The Citizens currently trail league leaders Arsenal by two points with only two matches remaining in the domestic campaign. This latest victory provides immense momentum for Guardiola’s squad as they look to pressure the Gunners into a late-season mistake.
Meanwhile, Chelsea must quickly recover from the heartbreak of Wembley as they prepare for a vital midweek fixture against Tottenham Hotspur. For Manchester City, the dream of matching their legendary historical achievements is very much alive, setting up an unforgettable final week of the football calendar.
