Ex-Assistant Sues Howard Stern for Hostile Work Environment

Howard Stern lawsuit hostile work environment 2026

Radio legend Howard Stern and his wife Beth Ostrosky Stern are facing a legal battle after a former personal assistant filed a lawsuit in the Manhattan State Supreme Court. Leslie Kuhn, who served as an executive assistant and office manager for the couple between January 2024 and February 2026, alleges that she was subjected to a hostile work environment.

The lawsuit, filed on April 5, 2026, claims that Kuhn was fired after enduring immense pressures while managing the couple’s 20,000-square-foot Southampton mansion. According to reporting from TMZ, the plaintiff asserts that her termination was a direct result of these untenable conditions. Kuhn is now seeking to have a non-disclosure agreement declared void so she can speak freely about her experiences.

The complaint highlights specific grievances regarding the household operations at the Sterns’ East End estate known as Oceanview. Kuhn claims she was tasked with overseeing a massive staff and handling payroll while also managing Beth Stern’s extensive at-home feline rescue operations. The lawsuit describes these animal fostering efforts as “irresponsible and untenable,” creating an overwhelming environment within the home.

As detailed by Newsday, the Sterns have famously rescued hundreds of cats over the years, but Kuhn alleges the sheer scale of the operation contributed to a chaotic and disorganized atmosphere. The legal filing also points to what Kuhn describes as questionable business operations and accounting practices within the household’s management structure.

A major focal point of the litigation involves an ironclad confidentiality agreement that Kuhn claims is fraudulent. She alleges that a law firm representing Stern’s production company, One Twelve, presented her with a separation agreement that included a manufactured NDA. Kuhn contends that her signature on the document is merely a typewritten name in a font style that does not match her actual handwriting.

She insists that she never signed such an agreement during her initial hiring process and that the document was backdated to silence her. The lawsuit states that these agreements are particularly onerous because they allegedly allow the Sterns to speak freely about Kuhn while preventing her from defending her professional reputation.

The Sterns have not yet issued a formal public response to the allegations as the case begins its journey through the New York court system. Howard Stern, often called the “King of All Media,” has faced various legal challenges throughout his career, but this suit provides a rare and critical look inside his private residence. Kuhn’s legal team is asking the court for a declaratory judgment that the NDA is unenforceable to allow her to address any future accusations from the defendants.

For now, the case remains in the early stages of discovery, and listeners of the SiriusXM program are watching closely for any mention of the dispute on air. According to updates from Reddit’s entertainment community, the news has sparked significant debate regarding the boundaries of celebrity domestic employment and labor rights in 2026.
