Nigerians in Diaspora: Tinubu Declares the Dawn of Nigeria’s Prosperity

President Bola Tinubu has delivered a powerful message to Nigerians living abroad, assuring them that “Nigeria’s rise has begun.” Speaking at the opening of the 2025 National Diaspora Day, he commended the immense contributions of Nigerians in the diaspora—ranging from investments and skill transfers to remittances that exceeded $20 billion by 2024. The president emphasized that their achievements continue to inspire the younger generation and shape the nation’s progress.

Tinubu promised to create an expansionary and welcoming environment to attract more investments from diaspora Nigerians. In line with this vision, he highlighted the launch of both a Diaspora Home and Abroad Housing Platform and a Diaspora Mortgage Scheme, designed to facilitate access to affordable, quality housing back home.

These initiatives reflect the administration’s broader strategy to harness diaspora expertise, innovation, and capital for national development, strengthening bonds between Nigeria and its global citizens while encouraging greater engagement—economic and social—in the country’s renewal.
