Arsenal have hijacked Tottenham’s efforts to sign Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze, reaching a tentative agreement worth close to £68 million (including add-ons). The Gunners fast-tracked negotiations after key player Kai Havertz suffered a knee injury, prompting urgency to boost their creative options.
Tottenham had initially lined up Eze as a top target following James Maddison’s ACL injury. Reports indicate they had soft agreements in place with both the player and Palace, valued similarly at around £60 million plus bonuses. However, Arsenal’s fresh approach—seen as more favorable to Palace—has shifted the momentum in their direction.
Eze, who began his career in Arsenal’s youth system and is a lifelong fan of the club, reportedly preferred the Gunners’ proposal. As a result, Spurs have stepped back from the race and are now considering alternative options.
Meanwhile, Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner confirmed that Eze will still be available for a key Europa Conference League playoff match, underscoring the player’s professionalism despite ongoing transfer talks.
