Trump Proposes Biannual Corporate Earnings Reports Pending SEC Approval

President Donald Trump has announced that, pending approval from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), publicly listed companies in the United States will no longer be required to file quarterly earnings reports. Instead, businesses would transition to reporting their earnings every six months.

The proposal, which Trump described as a move to ease regulatory burdens, is aimed at reducing short-term pressures on corporations and encouraging long-term growth strategies. Proponents argue that fewer reporting requirements could save companies significant costs and allow management to focus more on sustainable growth rather than meeting short-term Wall Street expectations.

Critics, however, caution that the change could reduce market transparency and limit investors’ ability to monitor corporate performance in real time. The SEC has yet to provide an official response, and the proposal is expected to spark significant debate among regulators, investors, and corporate leaders.
