Representative Ilhan Omar (D-MN) is facing intense new scrutiny as reports emerge detailing financial and personnel links between her political circle and individuals recently convicted or charged in the “Feeding Our Future” fraud scheme, described by federal prosecutors as the largest COVID-19 relief fraud case in the nation. The fraud revolved around a non-profit organization named Feeding Our Future, which submitted allegedly fake meal count sheets and invoices to the Minnesota Department of Education to fraudulently claim millions of dollars in federal funds intended to feed children during the pandemic. The majority of the over seventy defendants charged in the case are of Somali descent, though the founder of the organization is a white woman who was convicted earlier this year.
