Charlie Kirk receives posthumous Medal of Freedom
Charlie Kirk, the 31-year-old conservative activist and founder of Turning Point USA, was fatally shot while speaking at a public event at Utah Valley University. The incident has been described by authorities as a political assassination. In response to his death, President Donald Trump has announced that Kirk will be awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom posthumously.
The attack occurred during an outdoor event called “Prove Me Wrong,” which was part of Kirk’s “American Comeback Tour.” Witnesses reported hearing a gunshot from a nearby rooftop as Kirk addressed a crowd of about 3,000 people. He was struck in the neck and later pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Investigators recovered what they believe to be the weapon used—a high-powered bolt-action rifle—found in a wooded area near the university. The shooter remains at large, and authorities are continuing their search.
