Boko Haram Terrorists Kill Police Inspector, Seven Others in Adamawa
Suspected Boko Haram terrorists have killed a police inspector and seven civilians during a night attack on Gaya community in Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
The attack reportedly occurred on Monday night when the assailants invaded the community and targeted two houses. The attackers allegedly set the houses ablaze before killing the victims and fleeing the area. The Chairman of Hong Local Government Area, Aliyu Sa’ad, confirmed the attack and said eight people were killed.
According to Sa’ad, the victims included one police officer and seven civilians. The attack has left residents in the community deeply concerned about their safety as security agencies work to track down those responsible.
However, the Adamawa State Police Command initially reported a lower casualty figure. Police spokesperson Suleiman Nguroje said officers had recovered the bodies of five people, including four civilians and a police inspector, from the scene.
Nguroje explained that security personnel were still conducting operations in the area and that the casualty figure could change as more information became available. He said troops, police officers, vigilantes and hunters had been deployed to search for the attackers.
The latest attack adds to the security challenges facing communities in Hong Local Government Area, which has experienced repeated attacks linked to insurgency.
Security agencies are expected to continue searching surrounding areas for the perpetrators while working to restore calm and prevent further attacks.
Authorities have not released the identities of the victims, and the circumstances surrounding the attack remain under investigation.
