Police Arrest 4 Over Murder and Kidnapping in Akwa Ibom

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested four suspects in connection with the alleged murder of one person and kidnapping of another during an armed robbery operation in Etinan Local Government Area of the state.

The incident reportedly occurred on July 12, 2026, at Ikot Itienang Village, Ekom Eman, where armed men allegedly attacked residents, killing one person and abducting another.

According to the police, an investigation launched after the incident led to the arrest of four suspects. Two of them, Gospel Effiong, also known as “Python,” and Solomon Okon, also known as “Plane,” were identified as alleged members of the robbery gang.

The other two suspects were identified as Musa Kabiru, a native of Plateau State, and Victor Dickson. Police reportedly suspect the two of receiving some of the items allegedly stolen during the robbery.

During a search of Okon’s residence, police reportedly recovered a locally made pistol with one cartridge, suspected Indian hemp, a red cap bearing an inscription associated with a confraternity, suspected charms and other materials considered relevant to the investigation.

The state police spokesperson, DSP Timfon John, said the arrests represented a significant breakthrough in the investigation and assured residents that the command would continue efforts to apprehend other suspects who may have been involved.

The police also appealed to members of the public to provide credible information that could assist investigators in tracking down fleeing suspects and preventing further criminal activities across the state.

The four suspects remain alleged suspects and are presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court of law. Further investigation is expected to establish their individual roles in the alleged crimes.
