Ed Davis is alleged to have acted as a “gatekeeper” in the scheme, helping facilitate the bribes and place wagers that capitalized on inside information regarding Beasley’s planned performance.
According to the details outlined in the indictment, the scheme involved hundreds of thousands of dollars in fraudulent wagers. Prosecutors assert that Beasley often accepted bribes to settle or reduce personal gambling debts. In one specific instance cited in court documents, Beasley allegedly signaled his intention to underperform in rebounding during a January 2024 game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, allowing his associates to profit from bets placed on his statistical “unders.” While this investigation follows broader scrutiny of sports integrity within the league, authorities emphasized that such actions severely undermine the fairness of professional sports and victimize the public.
