Atalanta CEO Says Door Open for Lookmans Return If He Shows Full Commitment
Atalanta’s Chief Executive Officer Luca Percassi has indicated that the club is ready to welcome Ademola Lookman back into the first team, provided the Nigerian winger demonstrates full focus and commitment. The club are waiting “with open arms,” Percassi said, but he stressed that Lookman must be 100 per cent focused before being reintegrated into the squad.
This comes after a turbulent summer in which Lookman attempted to force a transfer to Italian rivals Inter Milan. The move failed to materialize and led to his absence from training for a period. Atalanta’s management have since expressed concerns over his attitude during that time.
Lookman has also been excluded from recent matchday squads as a consequence of his actions. Although he has rejoined training, he has not yet featured in games against Lecce and Paris Saint-Germain. The head coach and club hierarchy are watching closely to see how he responds in practice and whether he earns his place back.
Percassi noted that Atalanta’s standards require absolute dedication. He emphasized that the past cannot be changed, and that Lookman’s return depends on his readiness to commit to the present and the future. When the winger feels ready to meet those expectations, the club will welcome him back without reservation.
