President gifts $100,000 and three-bedroom apartments following WAFCON victory
In recognition of Nigeria’s Super Falcons winning their record-extending 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title, President Bola Tinubu hosted the team and their technical crew at the Presidential Villa in Abuja and presented them with prestigious honours, housing, and generous cash awards.
National Recognition and Awards
President Tinubu conferred the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) on all 24 squad members and 11 technical team members. Each player received a cash award equivalent to $100,000, while each member of the technical crew was awarded $50,000 in naira equivalent.
Housing Gifts for Champions
In a significant gesture, Tinubu directed the allocation of three-bedroom apartments in the Renewed Hope Housing Estate for each of the team members and coaching staff. The housing scheme underscores presidential support for athletes’ welfare beyond the field.
State Governors Contribute Additional Support
Representing the 36 state governors, Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq pledged an additional ₦10 million to each player and technical staff. The contribution further enhanced the recognition given to the team’s achievement.

Speaking at the reception, President Tinubu hailed the Super Falcons as symbols of national pride and resilience. He praised their comeback victory over Morocco and highlighted how their success inspired millions, especially young girls across Nigeria.
First Lady Oluremi Tinubu and other federal officials were present to congratulate the team and urge sustained investment in women’s football and youth sports development.
